Tacklebox Taps Veterans of Lowe, Darwin Digital

Tacklebox, an agency here that focuses primarily on business-to-business accounts, has added two ad veterans with experience on such brands as Sun Microsystems and Microsoft.

The agency last week named Tom Skunda director of client strategy and Jeremy Thomas director of brand strategy.

Thomas, 38, has spent more than 15 years in the field, primarily in account planning and brand development. He last worked as director of planning at Lowe Lintas & Partners, San Francisco, which closed due to market woes.

Prior to Lowe, Thomas held a similar position in town at the former Anderson & Lembke. He has worked with such clients as 3Com, Cisco, Autodesk, Warner Bros., British Airways and Sonicare.

Skunda, 44, also a 15-year veteran, recently worked as director of client services for Saatchi & Saatchi’s Darwin Digital in San Francisco. He has also worked at Young & Rubicam and the former Goldberg Moser O’Neill, both San Francisco.

Skunda has worked with such clients as Procter & Gamble, MGM Grand, Quantum, Xircom, Sonicare and Stuart Anderson’s.

“Jeremy and Tom both have incredible experience and wisdom, and in our model, clients get to experience it firsthand,” said Ralph Cummins, shop co-founder and managing partner. “We’re trying to create a lighthouse for talented senior people who want to get back to what they do best and have a great time doing it.”

“Tacklebox is small but mighty and combines that hard-to-find blend of intelligence and down-to-earth personality,” Skunda said.

Tacklebox works with such firms as Epoch Partners, Paramark, Epic Roots, Recipio and Emmperative. It was founded in 1999 by Cummins, Tim Hannell and Hal Maynard.
