LOS ANGELES Storage software specialist Symantec has assigned the creative portion of its advertising account to Godfrey Q & Partners, according to sources.

WPP Group’s JWT in Los Angeles had handled creative since 2001.

The agency shift comes in the wake of Symantec’s merger with Mountain View, Calif.-based security software company Veritas Corp. Sources said the newly combined corporation, headquartered in Cupertino, Calif., chose San Francisco independent Godfrey Q in order to keep creative closer to home.
