Sweitzer to Leave Riney for L.A.

Hal Riney & Partners here is searching for a creative director to replace one of its key talents, Steve Sweitzer, who resigned last week.
Sweitzer plans to relocate to Los Angeles in October “to move back to where I consider home and pursue several freelance opportunities.
“I’m very excited about the new opportunities waiting for me,” he said. “I will have less administrative stuff to do, and I can work more on my first loves–film, TV and print.”
Riney hired Sweitzer as co-executive creative director last year. Sweitzer previously served as senior partner and creative director at TBWA/Chiat Day in Venice, Calif. He shared the title with Dave O’Hare, along with the responsibility for reconstructing the entire creative department.
Their challenge, they said when they joined forces in 1996, was to create a flexible and talented group that could handle any project.
“As a team, Steve and Dave have accomplished what needed to be done with our creative team,” said David Verklin, the agency’s general manager. “Together they’ve rebuilt and reorganized the creative department, and brought in some incredible talent. We are very sad to lose Steve, but we understand his need to move on.”
