Carat Interactive has launched Search Engine Positioning Group.

The unit devises strategies to help clients use search engines as marketing tools, which can offer clients additional services to gain an extra competitive advantage. For example, how to consistently appear on the first page of potential customer searches. Web-site optimization and related services are also offered.

“Integrated marketing dollars are being spread over a broad range of services so we can use clients’ dollars more effectively,” said Roger Sant, chief strategy officer at Carat Interactive.

Leading the Search Engine Positioning Group as director is Carolyn Griffin, who most recently served as manager of online marketing at Silverstream Software.

So far, the Search Engine Positioning Group is working for clients such as Pfizer, RadioShack and SpeechWorks, all clients of media agency Carat Freeman, Newton, Mass. Carat Interactive spun out of Carat Freeman in January, claiming more than 100 employees and billings in the $100 million range.
