DALLAS-Siemens Wireless Terminals, a Richardson, Texas-based division of Siemens Business Communications Systems, is conducting a nationwide agency review for the late fall launch of its inaugural digital phone products.
The full-service account will include a substantial consumer push in television, radio and print, while continuing the trade and business-to-business image marketing done in-house by the two-year-old Siemens unit. Siemens Business in Santa Clara, Calif., is a subsidiary of Siemens AG of Munich, Germany.
Billings are undisclosed, but company officials are labeling it a “multi-million dollar” assignment. Category spending for cellular phone manufacturers ranged from $10-17 million in 1996, according to Competitive Media Reporting.
Advertising manager Brian Renaud is heading the review, which the company hopes to wrap up next month. Renaud said he hopes to have a shortlist in place in the next two to three weeks.” A request for proposal is expected to go out this week to a number of undisclosed shops.
“We’re just wanting to talk with who’s eager to work with us,” said Renaud. “We’re looking for somebody who knows this industry, but also has some great experience with brand building, plus some consumer expertise as well.” Senior public relations manager Kristine Ryan said the initial work will focus on products, with image advertising slated for the future.
