Siegel & Gale Bids To Split Apart From Saatchi & Saatchi

Corporate identity firm Siegel & Gale here is trying to buy its independence from its parent holding company, Saatchi & Saatchi PLC, sources said last week. Principal Alan Siegel declined comment. Sources said Siegel hoped to finalize the deal within two weeks.
Bob Seelert, chief executive of the holding company, did not return calls. A representative for the parent’s public relations arm said Saatchi does not comment on “market rumor.”
Saatchi & Saatchi acquired the firm in 1985. After Charles Saatchi’s departure in 1994, Siegel & Gale started the task of renaming Saatchi & Saatchi. Management settled on Cordiant, a coinage that combines accord and cordia, Latin for heart.
