Schwab Eyes 7 Shops for $100 Mil.+ Account

NEW YORK Discount brokerage Charles Schwab will meet with seven agencies in the review for the creative portion of its $100 million-plus ad account, sources said.

In the running, according to sources, are: Grey Global Group’s Grey in New York; Havas’ Euro RSCG in New York; Interpublic Group’s Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos in Boston; Publicis Groupe’s Saatchi & Saatchi in New York and Publicis & Hal Riney in San Francisco; and independent shops Gardner Nelson & Partners in New York and Wieden + Kennedy in Portland, Ore.

Incumbent GSD&M in Austin, Texas, an Omnicom Group shop, declined an invitation to defend. The San Francisco-based client declined comment.

A cut to three or four finalists is expected later this month.

Select Resources International in Santa Monica, Calif., is overseeing the process, which is expected to conclude in November.

Media chores are not in play and remain with independent RPA in Santa Monica (TV buying) and Omnicom’s PHD in New York (media planning, print buying).
