Sara Lee Appoints CMO

NEW YORK Sara Lee said today it has appointed Kim Feil senior vice president and chief marketing officer to lead all marketing efforts for the company’s retail brands in North America, including Sara Lee, Jimmy Dean, Hillshire Farm, Ball Park and Senseo.

Feil will assume her responsibilities effective Sept. 6, and will report to Sara Lee Food & Beverage CEO Christopher J. Fraleigh.

She joins Sara Lee from Kimberly-Clark, where she served as vice president and senior marketing officer of that company’s North Atlantic businesses, including health and hygiene products marketed under the Huggies, Kleenex and Scott brands.

Sara Lee spent just over $170 million on advertising last year, according to Nielsen Monitor-Plus.

The Chicago-based company’s agencies include Omnicom’s TBWA\Chiat\Day in Playa del Rey, Calif. (Ball Park and Jimmy Dean), BBDO in Chicago (Chock Full O’ Nuts and Senseo) and Element 79 in Chicago (Hillshire Farm); Publicis Groupe’s Publicis in Dallas (bakery goods and Champion apparel); and Grey Global Group’s Grey New York (Kiwi shoe polish).
