A strong finish for the Dow Jones industrial average—this was the Dow and the S&P 500’s eighth straight week of gains—is a sign that the market’s bullish momentum remains intact, analysts said last week. The same is true for ad stocks as earnings reports are being prepared for next month, noted Lauren Rich Fine, an ad- industry analyst at Merrill Lynch in New York. “Interpublic is very much still in turnaround mode, Omnicom will likely be rebuilding bonuses,” she wrote. “While the shares have not gone unnoticed by the financial markets, we think the sector will benefit from palatable valuations and improved operating results.” On the Big Board, Omnicom’s shares ended where they began the week with an 0.02 percent increase to $86.70. IPG rose 3 percent to $16.96. WPP, trading as American Depository Receipts on the Nasdaq, climbed 8.3 percent to $58.22.
