Reach Media Group is about to add a taxi video network to its growing place-based video portfolio. Through a partnership announced Tuesday (Sept. 28) with Taxi Magic, an Alexandria, Va.-based electronic taxi booking service, RMG will provide local video content and advertising for Taxi Magic’s new onboard payment and entertainment monitors, set to launch in fourth quarter.
Taxi Magic currently operates a popular taxi booking iPhone application in 31 top cities. In the coming weeks, the company will be rolling out the first 5,000 “passenger information monitors” in Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., and Denver. The beta test for the system, which includes an interactive touch screen, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth capability and 3G connectivity starts Nov. 1.
Details about the content and advertising opportunities available on Taxi Magic will be announced at a later date.
One of the consolidators in the growing digital place-based out of home industry, RMG operates several networks including In-Flight, Fitness Entertainment, Point-of-Care, mtvU and NYTimes.com Today.
