Red Cell Adds Swedish Shop to Network

NEW YORK WPP Group’s Red Cell is expanding its presence in Sweden with the acquisition of Stockholm-based agency Stenstroem, which will be aligned with Bates/Red Cell in Helsingborg, the company said.

Bates/Red Cell CEO Sten Andersen becomes CEO of both agencies, and Stenstroem founder Greger Stenstroem, who founded the agency in 1995, becomes deputy CEO.

In a statement, Andersen said, “We are delighted that Stenstroem is now part of Red Cell in Sweden. To have a base in Stockholm is critical to our development, but more important is to find a partner who shares our passion for creativity and great thinking. Simply acquiring a business is not enough. We needed to find a group of individuals with whom we could grow and jointly take on pan-Nordic assignments. In Stenstroem we have this.”

Bates/Red Cell client services director Michael Stahl will run operations for both shops. Stenstroem, now to be called Stenstroem/Red Cell, has produced campaigns in Sweden for clients such as Audi, Drott/Faberge and Pizza Hut.

The Red Cell network has 60 companies stretching across 35 markets. Its global client roster includes Alfa Romeo, Aventis, Diageo, Coca-Cola, Guinness, Microsoft, Nike, Nikon, Nokia, Sky+, Singapore Airlines and Unilever.
