Publicis Mid America Adds Burnett CD

NEW YORK Publicis Groupe’ Publicis Mid America has hired Julia Melle, as a creative director.

At the Dallas-based agency, she will work on Nestle’s Buitoni Pasta as well as new business. Her hiring brings the total number of cds in the office to 10.

“We’re always on the lookout for talent and she’s incredibly talented in specific ways. She has a modern view of our business and takes that approach as a cd. It’s holistic and cross discipline creative,” said ecd Shon Rathbone.

She comes to Publicis Mid America from Leo Burnett in Chicago, where she was also a cd working on brands such as Always and Special K.

“The Difference is Special K” campaign, which Melle helped oversee, won a Bronze Lion at this year’s Cannes International Ad Festival in the Media category. In that campaign, those who signed up at a Special K-branded Yahoo! mini-site received tips and encouragement electronically at times when they have might have been tempted to stray from their diets.

“I believe in thinking outside of general advertising for clients,” said Melle, a copywriter by trade. “Something Publicis Mid America does. I’m thinking of how we can connect consistently with the consumer at all points of contact in unexpected ways.”
