Internet-marketing author and entrepreneur Bob Heyman joined Mediasmith in San Francisco as chief search officer. He will lead company efforts to build client Web-site traffic and participate in the development of online and traditional media planning and buying solutions. Heyman formerly was an entertainment attorney and co-creator of the rock opera Rock Justice, with Jefferson Starship’s Marty Balin.
CreativeOndemanD in Coral Cables installed Alejandro Vitale as director of integrated marketing. Prior to joining COD, Vitale worked at accentmarketing in Miami, where he supervised the General Motors Public Policy account for the U.S. Hispanic market. His international experience includes serving as country manager for Shandwick’s/TJG’s Buenos Aires, Argentina, operation and as account director at Hill & Knowlton’s Buenos Aires office.
Push appointed Melanie DeAbreu account executive for the Kessler Collection and Mercury Advisors accounts. DeAbreu joins the Orlando shop from local agency Cramer-Krasselt, where she was an account assistant. Push also hired Staci Thursby and Julianne Freed as media planner and buyer and media coordinator, respectively. Thursby formerly served as an account executive at Nielsen Media Research in Atlanta; Freed most recently was a marketing coordinator at Hughes Supply in Orlando. In addition, the agency added Tiffany Correa as traffic manager. Prior to joining Push, Correa worked as print traffic manager at C-K and senior traffic coordinator at Robert A. Becker in New York.
Commercial producer Vivian Craig joined Foundation Post as an executive producer. The move reunites Craig with Foundation Post owner and editor James Lipetzky; the two had worked together as managing director and editor, respectively, of production company Red Car in Chicago. Craig also has worked in the production departments of Leo Burnett and J. Walter Thompson, both in Chicago.
Gearon Hoffman added Jessica Liu as an account coordinator. She will work on the Papa Gino’s business, among others, at the Boston agency. Prior to joining Gearon, Liu held a similar position at the Council on International Exchange.
Carmichael Lynch hired Rich Wallin as an account director. He will work on the Minneapolis agency’s American Standard account, as well as new business. For the past three years, Wallin has been managing director of Asatsu-DK in Toyko. He has also worked at agencies such as Ammirati Puris Lintas, Bates USA and Fallon.
Amy Selwocki joined Suspect, a New York visual effects and design studio, as visual effects producer. In her new post, Selwocki will work closely with and report directly to Rob Appelblatt, partner and executive producer. She was most recently a post-production producer at Berwyn Editorial, an in-house unit of Euro RSCG Worldwide in New York. At Berwyn, she worked on general and Hispanic market campaigns for MCI, Volvo, New Balance, Yahoo en Espanol!, Subway, Stouffer’s, French’s, Frank’s Red Hot Sauce and Intel.
Tivoli Partners in Charlotte promoted Marcia Merrill from senior account executive to account director. In her new post, Merrill will continue her areas of focus in customer satisfaction and proactive retention. The agency also appointed Tom Groonell director of client services. Groonell comes to Tivoli from Brouillard Communications in New York, where he served as a partner and managing director.
Akron-based Malone Advertising added seven staffers to its creative, account service and media teams. Keith Woodruff was named a senior copywriter; he formerly held senior creative positions at Pike and Co. and Stephen and Brady, both in Madison, Wis. Liz Turner was appointed a senior copywriter; she had been a copywriter at Liggett-Stashower in Cleveland. Kevin Johnson was hired as print supervisor; he most recently was a negotiations director/senior rate analyst at Media Resources in Canton. Leslie Billingsley joined as senior region supervisor for John Deere; she formerly was a field marketing manager at Foote Cone & Belding in Dallas. Kate Perkins arrived as senior account executive for Clorox; she had been a senior brand manager at Brokaw in Cleveland. Ryan Hutchinson was appointed field marketing manager for John Deere; he most recently was a special events manager at the American Cancer Society in Panama City, Fla. Stacey Centa was named print planner/buyer; she had been a rate negotiator at Media Resources in Canton. Billingsley will work out of the agency’s Dallas outpost; the other staffers are based in Akron. Malone Advertising also has offices in Los Angeles, Atlanta, Minneapolis, Toronto and Bentonville, Ark.
Dan Swanson was named creative director at CMD in Portland. Swanson, most recently a creative director at a San Jose, Calif., shop called H, has worked on accounts such as FedEx, Charles Schwab, AT&T, M&M/Mars and the U.S. Navy. Swanson will report to CMD vice president and executive creative director Pete Charlton.
SFGT in Philadelphia recruited Doug Hill as creative director, group head, responsible for Sunoco, De’Longhi, American Education Services and the Philadelphia International Auto Show. Hill had been a senior creative director at McCann Erickson in New York on Sprint, Lowe’s, Rubbermaid and Partnership for a Drug-Free America.
T3 installed Jackie Hockaday as production manager. Hockaday joins the Austin shop from local agency Tocquigny Advertising, where she was senior production manager. T3 also hired Chad Huff and Jerry Orta as interactive designer and production artist, respectively. Huff formerly worked at Olive Design in Austin as a design director; Orta most recently was senior production artist at the Kinko’s Dell FM Site in Round Rock. In addition, T3 added Matt Abt as project coordinator. Abt had worked as a marketing manager for California’s Rancho Cucamonga Quakes.
Charlieuniformtango named Staci Le Van editor. Le Van comes to the Dallas-based post-production company from the Whitehouse in Los Angeles, where she held a similar position. Le Van’s portfolio includes work for Jimmy Dean, Discover Card, Nationwide, Kleenex, Saturn, Hewlett-Packard and Ace Hardware.
Carter Ryley Thomas Public Relations and Marketing Counsel installed Courtney Ware as an account coordinator after a three-month internship with the Richmond shop. She will work with clients in the health-science practice area of CRT. Ware is a magna cum laude graduate of Virginia Tech.
