Plan ahead

As account planning continues to grow, so does its trade organization: the Account Planning Group. The group has started a Midwest chapter in an effort to “create a community” and improve the quality of planning, said David Rabjohns, vice president of planning at Leo Burnett and Midwest APG chairman.
The Midwest has some shops with what Rabjohns described as “cutting edge” planning departments, including Fallon Minneapolis, although on a larger level they might be somewhat behind the coasts when it comes to the British-born discipline.
The Midwest chapter plans a number of seminars and courses, beginning with an event June 13 at which ThinkShop, described as a company whose specialty is “facilitating brainstorming and team building,” will hold forth.
Rabjohns, himself a Brit, says planning is being not just assimilated but improved by workers on these shores.
“The wonderful thing in the last two years is the shift to Americans, and the evolution and improvement of planning in the U.S.” Rabjohns said.
