Pizza Hut Turns Up Heat on Stuffed Crust

DALLAS With a new campaign developed by BBDO, Pizza Hut is launching broadcast and print advertising for its new 3Cheese Stuffed Crust Pizza, the company said.

The latest recipe comes 10 years after the first version of Stuffed Crust, said Tom James, the Dallas-based chain’s chief marketing officer.

“Every year we top the year before with unique pizza varieties, sizes, shapes and recipes,” he said.

Based in New York, BBDO is an Omnicom Group agency.

The value of the new campaign was not disclosed. Pizza Hut spent $216 million on advertising in 2004, per Nielsen Monitor Plus.

When Stuffed Crust Pizza was introduced in 1995, ads showed customers turning their slices around and starting from the back to get to the cheese melted into the crust.

Pizza Hut, a subsidiary of Yum! Brands, has nearly 6,600 locations in the U.S. and more than 4,000 units in 100 other countries, the company said.
