PGA Tour Shops Championship Ad Assignment

The Professional Golfers Association Tour is looking for an agency to tout its World Golf Championships, which tee off next year.
Shops contacted include PGA Tour lead agency GSD&M, Austin, Texas; Grey Advertising, New York; Leo Burnett, Chicago; and TBWA Chiat/Day, sources said. It was not clear whether TBWA C/D would pitch through its New York or Venice, Calif., office.
The agencies either declined comment or could not be reached. Ponte Vedra, Fla.-based PGA Tour official Bob Combs did not return calls.
An rfp is due back this month. A decision could come in March.
Billings are not expected to exceed $5 million, sources said. The assignment might, however, allow an agency to network with PGA sponsors such as Anheuser-Busch and Walt Disney.
