Omnicom Set to Expand PHD Operations

NEW YORK Omnicom Group is expanding its PHD media agency network overseas and shaking up its holding company management team at Omnicom Media Group.

The PHD expansion will take place across the Asia Pacific region, continental Europe, the Middle East and Africa, the holding company said.

The agency network’s expansion will begin in the fourth quarter of 2005, with most markets in Asia Pacific and Europe to be completed by early 2006.

As part of the OMG management expansion, Mark Amabile, previously OMD Worldwide CFO, is now OMG CFO.

An OMG global board has been established that includes, in addition to Amabile, Daryl Simm, OMG CEO and chairman; Joe Uva, OMD Worldwide CEO, who adds the role of president, OMG; David Pattison, PHD Worldwide CEO; Colin Gottlieb, newly named OMG Europe CEO; and Mike Cooper, newly named OMG Asia Pacific CEO. (Gottlieb and Cooper were previously CEOs at those regions for OMD.)

In part, the latter move is designed to put in place a better structure to oversee the co-owned media brands on a worldwide basis.

Agency executives stressed that the two brands will remain separate and distinct in terms of serving the proprietary needs of clients, but at the same time the expansion will allow clients to tap general non-proprietary services offered by both networks.
