4 Move On in $100 Mil. Prevacid Review

NEW YORK—Four New York shops have advanced in TAP Pharmaceutical Products’ $100 million Prevacid review: McCann-Erickson, Ogilvy & Mather, Deutsch and Merkley Newman Harty & Partners, sources said. Two other New York shops that responded to TAP’s RFP—TBWA\Chiat\Day and Young & Rubicam—were cut, said sources. Two weeks ago, client executives briefed the four finalists on final pitches, which are scheduled for mid-September.

TBWA Lands More Mars Business After Cadbury Split

NEW YORK—TBWA Worldwide has added 14 new creative assignments from Mars around the world, including two that the New York office of TBWA\Chiat\Day will handle: Combos and an undisclosed new-product launch, the agency confirmed. Sources estimated that the network will now handle $100-150 million in Mars billings worldwide. The new business follows TBWA’s decision to split with Cadbury, a global client that competes with Mars in confectionaries. TBWA handled about $30-50 million in billings in six markets for Cadbury, and the London-based company is expected to launch a review to find a successor, sources said. The brands in play include Crispy Crunch, Maynards, Cadbury Creme Eggs and Caramilk.

Hershey Shifts $60 Mil. in Ad Duties Between 3 Shops

NEW YORK—Hershey Foods Corp. has realigned an estimated $60 million worth of new and existing creative business with incumbents Ogilvy & Mather and DDB, both in New York, and awarded new business to North Castle Partners, Stamford, Conn. Ogilvy, which had handled Hershey’s Chocolate and Chocolate with Almonds Bars, as well as Miniatures and Nuggets, will assume responsibility for Reese’s FastBreak candy bar, in addition to its ongoing work on Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. Ogilvy also picks up duties for a new, undisclosed product, a client representative said. DDB, which had handled Reese’s FastBreak, among other brands, will pick up Hershey’s Chocolate and Chocolate with Almonds Bars, Miniatures and Nuggets. North Castle picks up Ice Breakers, which had been in-house.

Horizon Hires 5, Staffs Up on Jack in the Box

LOS ANGELES—Horizon Media, here, has hired four employees to handle its new $80 million Jack in the Box account. Horizon won the business last month, following a review that included the incumbent Carat in Los Angeles, Palisades Media Group in Santa Monica, Calif., and undisclosed others. Priscilla Hoe joins as account director after a hiatus from the media business; independent planning consultant Gordon Agan becomes planning director; Angela Mailloux, formerly vp, broadcast supervisor at Carat, joins as broadcast group manager; and former Carat account supervisor Michaela Krams takes the same position at Horizon. The company also added former UniWorld advertising director Lee Gallagher as group media planning supervisor for the West.

Austin Kelly Takes $40-45 Mil. Papa John’s Account

ATLANTA—Interpublic Group’s Austin Kelley has won Papa John’s Pizza’s creative business, the client said. The Atlanta shop beat Black Rocket Euro RSCG in San Francisco and Doe-Anderson in Louisville, Ky., for the $40-45 million account. Carat in Chicago handles media.

BBDO to Close Houston Office

DALLAS—BBDO will close its Houston office, which has 17 employees, next month. The office recently completed a pitch for ChevronTexaco’s estimated $50 million global account. A decision is pending in the review, and it could not be determined which BBDO office would service the account if the agency won it.

Tweeter Launches $15-20 Mil. Search

BOSTON—Four agencies have made presentations to home-electronics retailer Tweeter in the review for its $15-20 million creative account, sources said. Contending are Allen & Gerritsen, Watertown, Mass.; Mullen, Wenham, Mass.; and Boston shops CGN Marketing & Creative Services and Gearon Hoffman, sources said. Planning and placement chores, handled by Casey Media, Braintree, Mass., are not in play, sources said. The shops declined comment or referred calls to the client, who did not return calls.

Home Depot Awards Direct Work to DDB

CHICAGO—DDB will provide direct market strategy and creative for Home Depot’s At Home Services and Credit Marketing divisions. The Chicago shop won the $8-10 million assignment following a review that included other, undisclosed shops. The Richards Group in Dallas remains lead agency for Home Depot.

At least 10 shops in Boston and New York have received requests for information from discount brokerage Brown & Co., which has launched a review for its estimated $7-10 million ad account after 20 years with Boston’s Gearon Hoffman. The forms are due back at the end of this week; the incumbent is participating, a client representative said. Brown & Co. is a unit of J.P. Morgan Chase & Co., which works with Foote, Cone & Belding, New York. … Grey’s London office has won an estimated $6 million assignment from clothing company Together, the agency said. Grey will launch a new line of clothing called Pure by Together. The win followed a pitch that included the client’s incumbent agency, Code. … Merkley Newman Harty & Partners has tapped former account executive Susan Serenska to succeed Steve Bowen as director of new business development in New York. Serenska most recently was director of client services at Lowe Consumer Healthcare in New York. At Merkley, she reports to chief marketing officer Lou Killeffer. The post had been vacant since May, when Bowen became president of Omnicom sister shop BaylessCronin in Atlanta.
