Mullen Preps National Print Push for Foster Grant

BOSTON — Mullen’s upcoming national campaign for Foster Grant revives the client’s well-remembered advertising strategy from the 1960s and ’70s, namely, placing big stars behind the company’s sunglasses.

One ad headlined “Isn’t that Cindy Crawford behind those Foster Grants?” shows the supermodel wearing a pear of dark frames and includes the copy, “Foster Grant sunglasses leave you with money left over for other things. Like that sexy French shirt you saw being modeled on the catwalk the other day. Meow.” Another ad features racing champ Jeff Gordon, and the campaign from the Wenham, Mass., agency breaks in early next month in fashion and lifestyle magazine. When Mullen added the Smithfield, R.I.-based client in January, spending was estimated in the low seven-figures.
