USA Weekend magazine hired three staffers. Lynn Kaplan was appointed account executive, consumer direct sales; she previously was New York account manager at Technology Review magazine. Lori Scelzi was hired as account executive, display sales; she formerly was an account executive at Meredith Special Interest Publications. Ken Sand ler was named manager, consumer direct sales and travel development; he most recently worked at Home Office Computing magazine. All three new hires are based in New York.
Robert Martin Inc. Creative Advertising & Marketing Communications hired Creighton Phillips as vice president, account services. Before joining the Hauppauge-based agency, he worked as vice president for business development and account management at the Hewson Group.
Mike Bass was promoted to vice president of strategic and corporate communications for NBA Entertainment. He is based in the NBA’s New York headquarters. Bass formerly served as senior director of strategic and corporate communications.
Tara La Motta was promoted to public relations senior account executive for all GráficaGroup companies: GráficaAdvertising, GráficaInter.active Ltd. and Gráfica.eCRM Corp. She previously was a public relations account executive at the Chester-based agency. Meaghan Shawcross was appointed senior vice president, director of client service at The Xchange Group, CommonHealth’s relationship-marketing arm. RealTime Media named Steven Olinger vice president of sales and marketing. He will be based in the company’s New York office. Olinger most recently was vice president of sales at FreeSample.com. RealTime Media is based in Wynnewood.
