Mobile Marketers Elect Manis Chairman

NEW YORK The Mobile Marketing Association, a trade organization that represents advertisers, agencies and others promoting portable communications devices, has named Jim Manis its new chairman.

Manis, who is the vice president of industry development for m-Qube, a Boston wireless promotion and ad technology company, replaces Perry Allison, the former vice president of SkyGo who served as MMA chair for two years.

Before joining m-Qube, Manis held senior posts at OpenWave Systems,, and Westbridge International. His work with the Universal Wireless Communications Consortium helped develop policy and strategy for third-generation (3G) wireless technology in North America, Europe and Asia.

Manis’s agenda for 2003 will continue to focus on bringing brands, agencies and carriers together to add value in mobile marketing, protecting consumer privacy, reinforcing an industry code of conduct that protects the rights of subscribers, advocating industry standards on accessing value-added messaging and strengthening the MMA global chapters.
