Midwest Merchant Appoints New York Shop

CHICAGO Meijer has selected DeVito Verdi to handle the creative portion of its $25 million advertising account following a review, a representative for the retailer said.
DeVito Verdi in New York pitched for the Grand Rapids, Mich.-based business against agencies including incumbent Meyer & Wallis in Milwaukee, Doner of Southfield, Mich., and Grey, also in New York.
Meyer & Wallis, which also has an office in Indianapolis that works on the business, will continue to handle media buying and planning.
Meijer, family owned and privately held, operates about 160 stores in Michigan and several other Midwest states that sell groceries, general merchandise and electronics.
