McCann Taps Lindner for Latin American Post

NEW YORK Interpublic Group’s McCann Erickson WorldGroup said it has named Luca Lindner president of its WorldGroup office in Mexico and evp, deputy regional director of McCann Erickson’s Latin American/Caribbean operations, which encompass 31 countries.

The appointment is effective immediately.

Lindner, 44, was most recently vice chairman of Leo Burnett’s European, Middle Eastern and African operations. He will relocate to Mexico and will report to McCann Erickson Latin America/Caribbean regional director Jens Olesen.

In a statement, Olesen said, “Luca is one of the industry’s most respected global advertising executives. His world class experience and success will be key to helping McCann maintain its leadership and momentum throughout the Latin American market.”

McCann WorldGroup chairman and CEO John Dooner said in a statement, “Luca will work with Jens to help ensure that our dynamic growth and legacy of excellence continues across the McCann Worldgroup companies.”

Lindner succeeds Carlos Herranz, who has spent 25 years with McCann. For the past eight years, Herranz led McCann Mexico.

At Leo Burnett, Lindner also ran the Publicis Groupe agency’s Fiat account.

Prior to joining Burnett, he was CEO of the Conquest agency in Italy and of the WPP Group-owned Red Cell network in Europe.

Lindner spent much of his earlier career in various posts within TBWA.

McCann WorldGroup’s major global clients include General Motors, Coca-Cola, ExxonMobil, Johnson & Johnson, L’Oreal, MasterCard, Microsoft, Nestle and Unilever.
