Louis Jones has been named North American CEO at WPP Group’s Maxus, where he succeeds Carla Loffredo, who shifts to N.A. chief operating officer.
Jones has a deep background in both digital and traditional media, most recently serving as global director of service excellent for Havas Digital. From 2001-06, he held various senior posts at Havas’ MPG. Earlier in his career, he worked at i-shop Organic.
Now, he will lead about 100 Maxus employees in the U.S. and Canada and $700 million in business.
Starting in the post immediately, he reports to Maxus worldwide CEO Kelly Clark, who praised Jones’ hands-on leadership style and media versatility.
Of Loffredo, Clark said: “Her experience with our clients and our team make her ideally suited to oversee the day-to-day operations of our agency. She and Louis will make an outstanding team.”
Maxus, which operates within WPP’s broader GroupM umbrella, has been quiet for a year in terms of new business, at least in the N.A. sector. It did add U.S. and U.K. chores for videogame technology firm Powermat last month. Maxus won the Wachovia business in late-2008, but Wells Fargo bought Wachovia and the work shifted to Omnicom’s DDB.
