Martin Arrives at DiNoto Lee

Brian Martin, former executive director of account services and business development at Bozell, has joined DiNoto Lee in the new post of president.

Martin, who also will be a partner with a stake in the New York shop, is charged with cultivating new business, managing the staff and developing brand strategies for clients, said agency principal Greg DiNoto.

“He’s really got a great head for business strategy—seeing what the big picture is,” said DiNoto. “It’s time for us to take a new look at how we do business. Brian brings a skill set and a depth of experience that will enable us to push forward and make things happen.”

DiNoto Lee claims billings of about $30 million from clients such as Country Music Television, Hybrid Investors and Kobrand. “It’s a diamond in the rough,” said Martin, 42. “It’s good to get back to a place where it’s about the business of managing our clients’ business.”

The hire reunites Martin with DiNoto and Esther Lee, another principal. All three worked at Deutsch in New York in the early 1990s.

At Deutsch, Martin was director of business development. He left that shop to steer new business at Kirshenbaum Bond & Partners, also in New York. Martin later helped manage a brand consultancy, Eggtooth, and ran an online com pany, Qtopics, before landing at Bozell in early 2001.

On his watch, the New York agency won Finlandia vodka, added interactive duties on Datek, and filled account-management and new-business posts. In December, Martin was let go, in a cost-saving move that reduced staffing by 3 percent.
