Longs Picks Zimmerman

BOSTON Zimmerman Advertising said it has been hired by Longs Drug stores, a 70-year-old chain with 500 locations in California, Hawaii and Nevada.

Longs spends slightly more than $20 million annually in domestic measured media, per TNS Media Intelligence. Zimmerman, an Omnicom Group shop in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., is tasked with building awareness for Longs in four key categories: health, wellness, beauty and convenience.

The chain had previously worked with Pickett Advertising in San Francisco.

“People say an agency is judged by the company it keeps. So we couldn’t be more pleased to work with a client whose rich history is so respected by its customers and also respected within their field,” said Zimmerman CMO Michael Goldberg, in a statement.

Zimmerman won the business following a review of undisclosed shops.

Longs marks Zimmerman’s second retail gain in recent weeks, following its addition in April of hhgregg, a home appliance and consumer electronics store chain. The Indianapolis-based client has typically spent in excess of $25 million annually in measured media, mainly in the Southeast and Midwest. Zimmerman added the Crocs footwear assignment as the year began.

Other business at the shop includes Nissan, ShopKo and Six Flags.
