Pitch in this month to fight breast cancer

As you may know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Awareness-building and fundraising events are taking place all over the country. However, the startling fact is that one out of every eight women in the ad industry will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime.

On beautiful fall weekends this month, hundreds of thousands of supporters like me will participate in a Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk. The purpose of the event is certainly to raise awareness and financial support. But it is also about potecting those we love. And it’s also about remembering those for whom the answers did not come soon enough.

I am fortunate to be a cancer survivor. I understand firsthand and can speak to the advances made in research, early detection, treatment, risk reduction and advocacy programs that result from the fundraising efforts of the American Cancer Society.
