Klein to Join BK as CMO

DALLAS 7-Eleven director of marketing Russ Klein is leaving the convenience store company and is expected to join Burger King as chief marketing officer. A representative from 7-Eleven confirmed Klein was leaving the company as of May 30, and said he will join the Miami-based fast-food chain.

Burger King has been searching for a CMO since Chris Clouser announced he would leave the company in February. Clouser’s retirement was effective May 1.

Calls to Burger King were not immediately returned.

Burger King in April shifted the bulk of its $350 million brand and field marketing account to WPP Group’s Young & Rubicam in New York.

Klein joined 7-Eleven North America last August from private investment firm Whisper Capital. He is a veteran of Chicago agencies, including Publicis Groupe’s Leo Burnett and Interpublic Group’s Foote, Cone & Belding, where he was executive vice president and managing director.
