SAN FRANCISCO – Carol Lee Kelliher, one of six original employees hired by Hal Riney when he set up an office here for Ogilvy & Mather in 1976, has been dismissed from Hal Riney & Partners, a victim of management changes that have obsoleted her job.
Kelliher, 47, who most recently served as senior vp and director of creative services, was responsible for recruiting creatives for the shop.
‘It was a surprise,’ said Kelliher, ‘But at the same time, I understand new management comes in and sees things differently.’
Kelliher said Riney was not present at the meeting.
Joe O’Neill, who in February was named national creative director for the firm, and other creatives will absorb her responsibilities.
