Hearst Gets Excited
Hearst New Media and Technology’s HomeArts and Excite have formed a co-branded distribution deal. The arrangement calls for HomeArts to provide content for Excite’s lifestyle channel, located at The Web pages will contain both the Excite and the HomeArts logos and the companies will also share ad revenue in the venture. Excite is soon expected to announce other content partners for its channels, which cover topics including news, entertainment, health and sports.

Ultima Launches
Electronic Arts, San Mateo, Calif., shipped its multi- player adventure game Ultima Online last week. The four-month beta test that preceded the launch, in which 25,000 players from across the globe participated, was the largest beta test ever for an online game. The game comes with Netscape Navigator Web browsing software, along with a free month of AT&T WorldNet Internet service.
