Campbell-Ewald Still Troubled in L.A.

DETROIT—Campbell-Ewald Advertising’s bid to grow in the West has been stymied by a lack of new business, leading to layoffs that sources said left just enough staffers to handle the shop’s two active clients: regional Chevrolet business and Farmers Insurance. Among those let go was Debra Samuels Wurzel, evp and managing director. CEA spokesman Mark Benner said others have been let go, too, but declined to give a number. The office is being run by executive creative director Debbie Karnowsky and Farmers account chief Jim Klock.
