– Geico Names Lopez Negrete Hispanic Agency
DALLAS–Insurance provider Geico has retained Lopez Negrete Communications as its first Hispanic agency to mount a $3-5 million national advertising campaign. The selection followed a review process, which included capabilities presentations and test projects. “We are indeed very proud and excited to have been selected as Geico’s first Hispanic agency,” said LNC president Alex Lopez. “It’s a significant piece of business–and I love their personality. They have a light-hearted approach so unlike the rest of the industry; it should really appeal to Hispanics.” Lopez Negrete’s Miami office was involved in the pitch and will help manage the business, along with the Houston-based headquarters.

DALLAS–Judi Martin has been appointed president of Bates Churchill Public Relations, moving from Fogarty Klein Public Relations, where she was senior vice president and general manager. In her new position, Martin will be responsible for the overall management and business development of Bates Churchill, a division of Bates Southwest in Houston. Martin concurrently serves as president of the 500-member Houston chapter of the Public Relations Society of America.

DALLAS–Tocquigny Advertising & Design has added two high-tech companies and a consultancy to its client roster. The Austin, Texas-based agency was chosen by Pervasive Software, a developer of management programs, and Texas Educational Consultative Services, a provider of hardware and software designed for public education applications. For Customer Operations Performance Center, a consulting and certification specialist, it will provide a range of branding and sales support services. Tocquigny is a full-service agency specializing in the high-tech sector.
– GSD&M to Help YMCA Celebrate 150th Year
DALLAS–GSD&M has won a multimillion-dollar contract with the national YMCA. The Austin, Texas, agency will assist the Chicago-based organization mark its 150th anniversary in 2001. A review was not held. “They want to celebrate their anniversary and at the same time use it to brand the Y, and remind people what it’s all about,” said Eric Webber, an agency spokesperson.
– 10K Wizard Appoints Michael & Partners
DALLAS–10K Wizard, a Web site offering free access and full-text search of Edgar, the Security and Exchange Commission’s database of corporate financial information, has selected Michael & Partners as its advertising and public relations agency. The Dallas-based client supplies real-time access to the financial records of more than 73,000 companies and was recently named by Money magazine as one of the top 50 financial Web sites. Michael & Partners in Dallas was established in 1998 by George Michael, formerly president of MBRK.
