ATLANTA: The list of shops in the running for the $26 million Shoney’s Restaurants business is down to incumbent Bernstein-Rein, Kansas City, Mo.; Long Haymes Carr, Winston-Salem, N.C.; McKinney & Silver, Raleigh, N.C.; and Partners & Shevack, New York. All four will make final presentations Dec. 3 at the client’s headquarters in Nashville, Tenn. Eisner & Associates in Baltimore was cut from the review.
People en Espa-ol Rates Hispanic Agencies
ATLANTA: The Spanish-language edition of People magazine, People en Espa-ol, has met with undisclosed Hispanic specialty agencies in South Florida and New York regarding its consumer and trade image-building account, sources said. Billings were not disclosed. Lisa Quiroz, publisher of the magazine–which launches monthly in February–could not be reached at press time. Sources said a decision could be rendered this week. Young & Rubicam, New York, handles advertising for People.
Eisner Surfaces as Finalist for Candy Account
WASHINGTON, D.C.: Eisner & Associates, Balti-more, and Avrett, Free & Ginsberg, New York, have emerged as finalists in a review for Airheads, a non-chocolate confection manufactured by Van Melle USA in Erlanger, Ky. The $1-3 million account involves mostly TV work. GSD&M of Austin, Texas, resigned the account about six months ago.
W. Pendleton Tudor Retires From Adweek
LOS ANGELES: W. Pendleton Tudor, chairman of the executive committee of Adweek Magazines, retired last week nearly 20 years after co-founding Adweek. Tudor, Jack Thomas and Ken Fadner founded the company in 1978 by acquiring three regional advertising trade magazines: Anny, Sam and Mac.
