Intel Taps McCann for Various Projects
SAN FRANCISCO–McCann-Erickson here has been selected by Intel Corp. in Santa Clara, Calif., to create a corporate video and handle various consumer advertising and marketing projects, sources said. Billings are estimated at $15-20 million. McCann executives declined comment. Intel manager of corporate affairs Tracy Koon said the status of Euro RSCG Dahlin Smith White, Intel’s global agency, has not changed. Euro RSCG Dahlin, based in Salt Lake City, recently opened a San Francisco office to manage Intel’s estimated $100 million global account. Several other undisclosed agencies pitched for the assignments that McCann won, sources said.

Silicon Graphics Expected to Select CKS
SAN FRANCISCO–Computer workstation marketer Silicon Graphics in Mountain View, Calif., is expected this week to announce that it has awarded its $15-30 million account to CKS Partners in Cupertino, Calif. “We’re finalizing this arrangement [with CKS] right now,” said SGI representative Roger Siminoff. The agency is already working on assignments, Siminoff said. Incumbent Cole & Weber in Seattle had handled the business for two years.

Borders Selects San Francisco Shop
DETROIT–Borders Books & Music in Ann Arbor, Mich., assigned creative duties for its $5-10 million account to Butler, Shine & Stern in Sausalito, Calif. Media planning and buying already had been assigned to Carat North America in New York. Perich + Partners, Ann Arbor, previously handled creative and media.

Saatchi Lands Cherokee Creative Work
LOS ANGELES–Saatchi & Saatchi Pacific, Torrance, Calif., won global creative duties for sportswear licensor Cherokee in Van Nuys, Calif., after a search. Billings were not disclosed. Saatchi’s first assignment will involve advertising to launch the brand in Asia.

Bay Networks Taps Search Consultant
BOSTON–Bay Networks in Santa Clara, Calif., hired Effective Marketing Strategies in Marina del Rey, Calif., to handle the previously announced review for its $10-12 million account. Euro RSCG Dahlin Smith White in Salt Lake City, which handled creative duties, declined to defend. Bay Network’s media buying agency, Freeman Associates in Wellesley, Mass., will participate in the review.

Daewoo Awards Two More Regional Accounts
CHICAGO–Daewoo Motor America last week completed two regional agency searches. The Leap Partnership, Chicago, was awarded the estimated $12 million central regional assignment. Tausche Martin Lonsdorf, Atlanta, was assigned the southeast division’s $10 million-plus account. Other regional assignments are pending. Ground Zero in Santa Monica, Calif., won Compton, Calif.-based Daewoo’s western regional account last month.
