LOS ANGELES–Geoffrey Frost, former global ad director at Nike, is expected to take a senior-level advertising post at Motorola, sources said. Lead Motorola agency McCann-Erickson, New York, referred questions to the Schaumburg, Ill., client, which did not return calls.
HP Selects Saatchi for $100 Mil. Global Task
NEW YORK–Hewlett-Packard has tapped Saatchi & Saatchi to handle an estimated $100 million global image assignment for its new Enterprise Computing Solutions Organization without a review, sources said. The agency declined comment; the client could not be reached.
Brink’s Seeks Advertising Security
DALLAS–Brink’s Home Security said it has placed its $10-15 million direct ad account in review. Incumbent The Boston Group, Boston, will be asked to defend. Media incumbent Western International Media, Los Angeles, will participate. The Irving, Texas, client has hired Andersen-Claggett, New York, to conduct the review.
Dick Roth to Assist Toys ‘R’ Us With Review
NEW YORK–Toys ‘R’ Us has retained Richard Roth Associates in Chappaqua, N.Y., to conduct reviews for creative and media duties on its $50-75 million account. Warren Kornblum, the Paramus, N.J., company’s chief marketing officer, confirmed the review and said he is open to a bundled or unbundled solution. A long list will be drawn up in about two weeks; a decision is due in April. The review will focus on strategy. Both New York incumbents, creative shop The Kaplan Thaler Group and media agency Quantum Media International, plan to defend.
Platinum Launches Agency Hunt
CHICAGO–Software provider Platinum Technology has put the creative portion of its estimated $10 million business-to-business account in play. Shops contacted by the Oakbrook Terrace, Ill., client include Young & Rubicam and Arnold Ingalls Moranville, both San Francisco, and SicolaMartin, Austin, Tex., client officials said. There is no incumbent. Carat Freeman, Newton, Mass., buys media.
