Rawlings Joins Pizza Hut, Sets Agency Briefings
DALLAS–Former DDB Needham Dallas chairman and chief executive officer Mike Rawlings last week was named president and chief concept officer of Addison, Texas-based Pizza Hut five months after resigning his post at the agency. Rawlings said he plans to meet with Pizza Hut’s marketing staffers as well as executives at lead agency BBDO, New York, and promotions shop TLPartnership, Dallas, in the next two weeks. Asked if any lead agency changes were planned, given reports of a strained relationship between Pizza Hut and BBDO (Adweek, April 14), Rawlings said, ‘I don’t know enough about the situation to comment on any of that yet. I will say that BBDO has been a good agency partner for a long time, and they have done good work.’ Rawlings acknowledged that reversing a decrease in sales would ‘obviously be a top priority.’ The company’s same-store sales were down 4 percent in 1996.
Dell’s Direct Marketing Moves to Rapp Collins
DALLAS–Dell Computer Corp., Austin, Texas, has assigned its direct marketing account to Rapp Collins Worldwide, Dallas, after a review that included one other finalist: Wickersham Hunt Schwantner of Boston. Billings were undisclosed, but sources estimated the budget at $10 million.
Keating Magee Adds 4 Clients to Roster
NEW ORLEANS–Keating Magee Advertising here has acquired four clients with combined billings approaching $1 million: Frantzen & Voelker Investments, the 625 St. Charles Building, Baptist Community Ministries and Metro New Orleans Transit. KM will handle public relations for Frantzen & Voelker and for the luxury condo complex 625 St. Charles. Baptist Community Ministries has hired KM to coordinate and produce special projects, including its first annual report. KM also has partnered with Warren Bell & Associates and G. MC& Co., both in New Orleans, to handle Metro New Orleans Transit.
Flora Gains Extended Acxiom Assignment
DALLAS–Acxiom Corp. of Conway, Ark., has retained Flora Public Relations in Austin, Texas, to supervise its corporate public relations over the next three years. Flora has worked with Acxiom for the past two years.
Micrografx Selects Edelman Public Relations
DALLAS–Graphics software firm Micrografx, Richardson, Texas, selected Edelman Public Relations Worldwide in Dallas and Chicago as its new agency for media relations, trade show activities, promotions and brand identity development. Billings were undisclosed.
