Rawlings Joins Pizza Hut, Sets Agency Briefings
DALLAS–Former DDB Needham Dallas chairman and chief executive officer Mike Rawlings last week was named president and chief concept officer of Addison, Texas-based Pizza Hut five months after resigning his post at the agency. Asked if any lead agency changes were planned, given reports of a strained relationship between Pizza Hut and BBDO (Adweek, April 14), Rawlings said, ‘I don’t know enough about the situation to comment on any of that yet. I will say that BBDO has been a good agency partner for a long time, and they have done good work.’ Rawlings acknowledged that reversing a decrease in sales would ‘obviously be a top priority.’ The company’s same-store sales were down 4 percent in 1996.
