1-800-Mutuals Parts With McCarthy
DALLAS–Mutual funds brokerage 1-800-Mutuals here has terminated its relationship with Dallas shop The McCarthy Group (TMG), according to client president Rick Sapio. Sapio said although the brokerage was discussing test-market proposals with the Dallas company, the investment firm never agreed to the shop as its agency of record, as stated by TMG president Tim McCarthy. “We are still in the process of evaluating our marketing and advertising strategy,” said Sapio. McCarthy maintains the shop had entered into an official relationship with the client, through an Aug. 26 agreement signed by Sapio to represent the client to media. Sapio disputes that the agreement gave McCarthy “all advertising assignments,” as stated in a TMG Sept. 9 press release.
Richards Breaks New Florida Citrus Work
DALLAS–The Richards Group here launched a new television campaign last Friday for the Florida Department of Citrus. The effort includes three 30- and three 15-second commercials airing on cable channels like TNN and USA, along with some network buys. Morning placement will be heavier than previous buys. The spots feature an animated talking sandwich and promote the health benefits of Florida orange juice in fighting cancer, heart disease and colds and flu. Spending is $20 million.
Regian & Wilson Acquires Rejuvena
DALLAS–Regian & Wilson Advertising & Public Relations in Fort Worth, Texas, was selected as agency of record for Rejuvena Corp. of Dallas. Regian will handle advertising and public relations, as the client plans to expand to additional locations in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. National expansion is also in the works for the company, which operates as Rejuvena Skin Therapy Facilities. A client official said the company was looking for an agency with multimarket and retailing experience. Billings were undisclosed
M2K Earns Trio of Online Assignments
DALLAS–Austin, Texas, agency M2K has landed online advertising assignments for Hand Technologies, i2 Technologies and Intelliquest. Work includes banner ads, e-mail newsletters and search engine optimization. Billings are estimated at $700,000.
BBDO Introduces Hormel Pork Dishes
CHICAGO–Hormel Foods last week launched Always Tender, its first line of marinated pork entrees, in seven markets, primarily in the West and Southwest. A national rollout is planned. Advertising from BBDO Minneapolis is tagged, “Pork you can cut with a fork.”
