Hitachi Power Tools Picks Huey/Paprocki

ATLANTA Huey/Paprocki has won the Hitachi Power Tools account after a review involving several other undisclosed agencies, the shop said.

The independent Atlanta shop will provide brand strategy and advertising for the manufacturer, which maintains its North American headquarters in Atlanta.

Annual billings were not disclosed, but sources value the account at about $2 million.

The agency will break a new campaign for Hitachi in the fourth quarter of this year. The effort will focus mostly on print advertising in trade journals and special interest magazines such as Fine Woodworking. The media mix will include limited outdoor and radio ads, and the agency is looking for a partner to produce Hispanic advertising.

There was no incumbent on the account. Hitachi had produced its own advertising previously.

Huey/Paprocki also provides advertising for the Do It Yourself Network, a cable channel that airs home improvement programs. The agency has held the DIY Network account for the past three years.
