Gimme The Ball

The shot clock is running down as Young & Laramore looks for the game winner with its Women’s National Basketball Association campaign breaking today.
Without an actual team to tout, the Indianapolis shop is relying on the state’s obsession with basketball to sell seats. The women’s team franchise will be awarded to the NBA’s Indiana Pacers only if 5,500 season tickets are sold by Oct. 15.
Tagged “Buy the tickets. Keep the team,” the TV work shows quirky examples of dedicated fans.
In one 30-second spot, a young woman tells of commuting to play on a team more than three hours from her home. In another, a little girl grapples with a full-sized ball, attempting to dribble it between her legs.
“If there was ever a place that basketball and the WNBA would be welcome, it would be here,” said Y&L creative director Charlie Hopper.
The campaign stresses it would be “unimaginable” for Indiana not to have a women’s team, he said.
One busboard sums it up: “Because we’re Indiana. And it’s basketball.”
