Fowler Moves Up at Ogilvy

NEW YORK David Fowler has been named worldwide creative director for BP and its associated brands, a new post at Ogilvy & Mather, an agency representative said today.

Fowler, 47, had been executive creative director, heading BP’s “Beyond Petroleum” ad campaign. He will now oversee creative on all brand communications globally. He will also continue to head efforts for American Express Financial Advisors in New York.

He continues to report to Ogilvy vice chairman Steve Hayden.

Fowler officially joined Ogilvy in 2000 as creative director, but began freelancing for the New York shop in 1995, when he was part of the team that won the Kodak account. Since then, he has also worked on American Express, Coca-Cola and GlaxoSmithKline, among other accounts.

Prior to freelancing, Fowler ran Fox’s on-air promotions department. Before that, he held creative posts at Goodby, Berlin & Silverstein in San Francisco and Ammirati & Puris in New York.
