The “fishing buddies” are claiming victory after a near-showdown with police.
Harry and Jack- a.k.a. South Hadley, Mass., ad executives Darby O’Brien and Kevin Jourdain-have entertained the city of Holyoke, Mass., for months with publicity tactics geared toward opening the Whiting Reservoir for fishing.
The duo ran an ad in the Holyoke Transcript last month challenging Mayor Daniel Szostkiewicz to meet them at the reservoir gates and negotiate a deal. Otherwise, they’d fish, setting themselves up for possible arrest.
The mayor showed up and agreed to a fishing derby next month.
