Executive Moves at Pile and Co.

BOSTON Communications consultancy Pile and Co. said it has added Brian Tomlinson to lead its financial optimization unit, which provides clients with services related to agency compensation and contract development, incentives and resource optimization.

Tomlinson fills a new position, though he takes over some duties from former Pile managing partner Chris Colbert, who has left to start his own agency here, reviving the Holland Mark name. Colbert through the 1990s helped grow the original Holland Mark into one of New England’s largest independent shops.

Tomlinson will work closely with the Boston-based company’s agency review and performance evaluation clients in addition to helping marketers clarify and optimize compensation structures.

“Brian brings a great depth of experience from both sides of the table to our financial consulting practice”, said Judy Neer, Pile president.

Tomlinson’s experience includes founding the finance practice at Avatar Strategic Partners, a business technology consulting firm, and serving as CFO of WearGuard, a $250 million apparel concern.

During his career, he has provided financial counsel to agencies including Modernista!, Digitas, Nail Communications, Agency.com and Holland Mark.
