Draftfcb has filled its top creative role in New York with Darren Moran, a global creative director at Young & Rubicam.
Moran (pictured), 42, spent 13 years at WPP Group’s Y&R in New York, where he worked on brands such as Xerox, Accenture, LG, Bacardi, MetLife, Colgate and Chevron. Before that, he was a senior copywriter at Omnicom Group’s BBDO in New York. Draftfcb represents Moran’s first attempt at running a creative department.
The office employs about 130 creative staffers including production professionals. Key clients include Kraft Foods, Fisher-Price, the Office of National Drug Control Policy, Lily and Jamaica Tourism.
“He has got a great reputation as a creative leader who works closely with clients to grow their business but always stands up for what he believes,” said Tom O’Keefe, Draftfcb’s North American executive cd.
Moran will start Oct. 18 and report to O’Keefe and Dana Maiman, CEO of the New York offices of the main agency and Draftfcb Healthcare. He becomes part of a management team that includes Maiman and New York president Sandy Kolkey.
The new CCO fills a vacancy left by the January shift of Michael Simmons to global ecd on Kraft. Simmons, who had been CCO for 14 months, has since left 0the Interpublic Group shop.
