Doner has expanded a key marketer relationship via its media department.
The agency, which has handled creative and media responsibilities on the Perkins restaurant chain since 2011, will now also plan and buy media for a sister brand, Marie Callender’s Restaurant & Bakery. Annual media spending is estimated at $10 million.
The latest assignment follows a review in which Doner beat a handful of undisclosed contenders. AlixPartners in Detroit managed the search.
Doner, a unit of MDC Partners that’s based in Southfield, Mich., succeeds Thayer Media in Centennial, Colo. on the business.
In making the hire, Julee Ferguson, senior director of marketing and food & beverage at Marie Callender’s, cited Doner’s “innovative, cost-efficient, results-driven media plans for our sister company, Perkins.”
Creative responsibilities on Marie Callender’s weren’t in play and remain at HeilBrice in Irvine, Calif. Jennifer Quenville, an svp and strategic leader at Doner, will manage the new account. Quenville also works on Perkins and ADT. Other Doner media accounts include The UPS Store and Serta.
