NEW YORK–The Disney Co. said it is closing its Chicago-based DisneyQuest video arcade and interactive entertainment center on Sept. 4 because it failed to live up to the company’s financial expectations.

The five-story, 90,000-square-foot complex opened in June 1999, Disney’s first outside Orlando, as a prototype for future urban locations. No others have yet been built. It features such attractions as CyberSpace Mountain, Virtual Jungle Cruise, and a virtual reality ride based on Pirates of the Caribbean.
