Digitas Names Chief Administrative Officer

NEW YORK Digitas said Cella Irvine, a former Microsoft and Hearst executive, would join the company as chief administrative officer.

Irvine, who begins work on March 31, will oversee all administrative units of the Boston-based agency group, including public relations, information technology, legal and strategic design.

Jeff Cote, who served as both chief financial officer and chief administrative officer, is leaving Digitas on April 1 to become chief operating officer at Ropes & Gray, a Boston law firm. Earlier this month, Digitas named Brian Roberts, the company’s chief accounting officer, as its new CFO.

Irvine, 47, joins Digitas from insurance giant Marsh, where she was a chief operations officer, overseeing technology, product development and communications. She worked at Marsh since 2001. Prior to that, Irvine was general manager of Microsoft’s New York Sidewalk, the Internet city guide, until Ticketmaster/CitySearch bought it in 1999. Irvine also worked as vice president and general manager of Hearst New Media and Prodigy.

“Cella is a veteran among digital industry veterans,” David Kenny, chairman and CEO of Digitas, said in a statement. “Her passion as a pioneer and her strong business process and strategic planning background will serve our company, our people and our clients well.”
