DDB Gets More of Data Return

DDB Worldwide/Dallas has picked up new business from current client Data Return. The additional billings are estimated at $5 million.

Previously, DDB handled media planning and buying for the Dallas-based provider of Web-hosting services. The agency now adds national branding, advertising and events to its list of duties on the business-to-business account.

DDB replaces SicolaMartin of Austin, Texas, a technology-focused agency with which it formerly had a partnership to attract new business. DDB, however, has moved to ramp up its own technology department recently. It has added group account director Karen Clapper and account supervisor Kathleen Golden, both formerly of Temerlin McClain, to work with senior account planner Patty Mosher.

“We selected [DDB] on the basis of their branding experience and their technology expertise. They have some wonderful people they’ve hired over the last couple months,” said Phil Jacobs, vice president of marketing at Data Return. “The other thing was their global reach [because] we’re marketing in Europe.”

Publically traded Data Return, which employs more than 325, had sales of $12 million last year, according to Hoovers Online.
