Daley Takes Top Saatchi London Post

NEW YORK Saatchi & Saatchi has installed former Red Cell co-CEO Lee Daley as chairman and chief executive of the agency’s U.K. Group in London, the Publicis Groupe shop said today. The office’s current CEO, Kevin Dundas, is shifting to the new role of worldwide strategy director.

Saatchi continues its search for a London creative chief to fill the vacancy left by the migration of ecd Tony Granger to New York this month. Daley will play a role in that search, which is being led by worldwide creative director Bob Isherwood.

Daley is “one of the most passionate, competitive and restless people in marketing I’ve ever met,” Saatchi worldwide CEO Kevin Roberts said in a statement. “He’s a major business winner, a team builder and a creative provocateur.”

Daley, 42, was co-CEO and chief strategy officer at WPP Group’s Red Cell from 2001 until January 2004, when he left after seeking a new contract [Adweek Online, Jan. 23]. Before Red Cell, he was evp, chief strategy officer of Interpublic Group’s McCann Erickson in Europe.

In a statement, Daley said he was attracted by Saatchi’s “profound commitment to excellence for its clients and an incredible commitment to creativity.”

Dundas, 43, will assume his new post in January, following a transition in London. As worldwide strategy director, he will report to Roberts. Daley reports to Richard Hytner, Saatchi’s chairman and CEO for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
