Collins to End 25-Year Run at M/W

CHICAGO Martin/Williams CEO Steve Collins is retiring at the end of this month, the shop said today.

President and chief creative officer Tom Moudry will take over as CEO, while chief marketing officer Mike Gray will become president of the Omnicom Group agency.

“We’ve been planning this transition for a while,” Collins said in a statement. “I’m turning 50, and I’ve spent half my life at Martin/Williams, so as much as I love this place, it’s time to do something else.”

Collins, a 25-year veteran of the agency, began his career at the Minneapolis shop as an account executive working on the launch of 3M’s Post-It Notes. He rose through the ranks to become president of the agency in January 2000.

Moudry, 45, who joined the agency last year and was named president of the shop in June, will take over as CEO.

Gray, 51, a 15-year veteran of Martin/Williams, will serve as both chief marketing officer and president of the shop.

Tim Frojd, a 24-year agency veteran, will continue as chairman and chief financial officer.
