Chupa Chups USA Invites Agencies To Pitch Its Account

Chupa Chups USA, the lollipop marketer with a celebrity fan base, is contacting agencies around the country about its U.S. ad account, currently at Lois/EJL in Chicago.
The Barcelona, Spain-based company may be spending $10 million or more in 1999, said sources. Its lines also include Pop Rocks and Smint breath mints, a competitor to Altoids.
Contacted in addition to the incumbent, sources said, were: The Richards Group, Dallas; GSD&M, Austin, Texas; Ground Zero, Santa Monica, Calif.; Fallon McElligott, Minneapolis; and TBWA/Chiat/Day and Weiss, Whitten, Stagliano, both New York.
Heading the search is Greg McCormick, the Atlanta client’s general manager. He did not return calls.
